Casual Commander Night

Thursdays and Saturdays are Casual Commander Night at Chico Magic!

Come in anytime after 4pm and we’ll help you find a pod to play in. We have regulars who run precons, upgraded precons, competitive decks, silly decks, and everything in-between.

Entry is either $6 for one booster pack or $10 for two booster packs before you leave.

We have a casual community with casual-to-competitive cards. Table consent/Rule 0 applies; if you are running jank or cheese, give folks a heads up, please.

This is a casual competition environment; the primary goal is to relax and have fun—while building and piloting mechanically optimized and competitive decks. If you’re looking to lock in and pulverize everyone with a weaker deck than yours, please play somewhere else.

On the other hand, if you are looking forward to learning, growing, and socializing—and you can enjoy the gathering whether you win or lose—come on in and play!

Everyone is welcome at Chico Magic—but be aware that I have a zero tolerance policy for any behavior that would compromise the psychological or physical safety of our player community. I will remove you from the store with no refund if your behavior, attitude, or body odor is disruptive to other players.

FAQ

Q: Do I have to be at the store by 4pm to participate?
A: Nope! You can arrive anytime between 4-8pm and we’ll do our best to find you a pod to play in.

Q: Does the store provide free deodorant? Should I shower before I attend this event? Does the social contract imply that we bathe and practice good personal hygiene before engaging in social events?
A: Yes, Yes, and Yes.

Q: What is the power level of players at the store?
A: We have players who run anything and everything. Our consistent community players tend to be on the higher power level, but our priority is inclusive fun and collective growth. We all want to see each other have fun and improve, to enjoy the game we all come together to play, and to learn from each other in ways that encourage future gatherings. So bring whatever decks you want to play, and remember that good pods are like good relationships: the more open communication you have before it starts, the more fulfilling it will be in the long-run.
