Chico Magic is your local Wizards Play Network (WPN) store. We strive to maintain an inclusive, welcoming, and friendly environment where players of all skill levels and experience can have fun together. Disrespectful attitudes or odors will not be tolerated.
Event Tickets required. Due to high demand and limited supply, we are requiring that all prerelease players purchase tickets ahead of time through our online portal. Event Schedule
We will be hosting two rounds of best-of-three games. Each round is 40 minutes long. (It’s okay if you only make it through one game in 40 minutes).

Prizes & Participation
For each round you win (2-0 or 2-1), you’ll receive a play booster pack. Additionally, everyone who attends for both rounds will receive a free play booster pack before they leave.

FAQ
Can I attend more than one prerelease event?
Yes! Just make sure you purchase a separate ticket for each event you want to attend.
Can I buy tickets for other people?
Yes! Please use the “Player first name” and “Player last name” field on the checkout form to indicate who the ticket is for. That is the person who will be provided a prerelease kit when they check in the day of the event.
Do I have to stay for all the rounds?
No; you’re encouraged but not obligated to play in both rounds.
How competitive is the atmosphere?
Chico Magic is a table-social, card-competitive environment—while our community builds strong & competitive decks, we strive to maintain an inclusive, welcoming, and educational atmosphere. Our prerelease events are even more casual-social. While Magic naturally entails friendly competition due to the way the game is designed, a prerelease event is meant to be educational, inviting, engaging, and exciting. The goal is play to have fun rather than play to win.
What if I bought tickets for the wrong day?
Don’t panic! Forward your receipt or receipts to jesse@chicomagic.com and let me know what day you want to attend instead. I’ll reply and let you know if there’s space and/or if it’s possible.
Will we be able to buy products?
Yes! In fact, by attending a prerelease event, you’ll have exclusive first access to all of the products I’ll have in stock. They are not available to the public until the following Thursday.
Do I really have to shower and wear deodorant before arriving?
Yes! Anyone with an attitude or smell that is disruptive to other players will be removed from the event immediately. You will not be refunded.
How can I control the way I smell in public?
Your body sheds billions of dead skin cells every day. These dead skin cells colonize on your skin and in your clothes by feeding off sweat and other bacteria and then pooping out stinky bacterial waste.
To control how you smell in public:
- SHOWER—wash the dead cells and bacteria off your skin , and
- LAUNDRY—wash the dead skin and bacteria out of your clothes.
BOTH your skin AND your clothes should be CLEAN before you go out to spend time around others in a small game store.
